Spaying and neutering:

The puppies and kittens shown at right have already been spayed and neutered.

They ate a little before the procedure, and within thirty minutes of the surgery, were up and having a snack. They're all off to a good start in life, because they have had their chance of some malignant cancers almost completely eliminated.

Because they were "fixed" at such a young age, their recovery process is faster, and they do not have the pain and irritation from the procedure and the sutures that an older animal has. The procedure itself took between four and eight minutes on each animal.

Spaying and neutering not only has multiple benefits, like keeping the boys at home, but it also helps prevent one of the leading causes of death in dogs and cats - euthanasia in an overcrowded animal shelter. With the average shelter adoption rate at about 20%, only two in ten shelter animals will survive to go home to a family. Every sterilization helps the odds of animals finding permanent homes rather than lose their lives.

If you are financially unable to afford to spay or neuter your pet, please contact us, and we can offer assistance.

We at Pet Partners of Habersham spay or neuter all animals before they are adopted, which is now Georgia state law. The Georgia Legislature, sharing in our concern for domestic animal overpopulation, and its impact on your community, passed a law requiring sterilization of all animals from rescue groups and shelters.
