Since 1987, Jane Nathanson has specialized in providing information, guidance, and support to animal caregivers experiencing the challenges of confronting and managing a pet's acute or chronic illness, serious injury, end-of-life care giving needs, and death. In 1990, she established a comprehensive pet loss counseling program in New England at the Massachusetts SPCA, and has been conducting these services for individuals, families, and groups referred by the MSPCA-Angell Animal Medical Center, Animal Rescue League of Boston, veterinary hospitals and humane organizations. Promoting optimal caregiving practices for pets and people alike, enables clients to enhance their understanding of human-animal health and welfare, methods of coping with stress and grief healing.

I'm a clinical psychologist with 15 years' experience, and a pet owner my entire life. I understand from the inside the kind of bond we have with our pets, and how painful it is to lose them through illness or misfortune. While I can't offer free counseling, I am in-network for BCBS and take other kinds of PPO insurance. Barbara J. Morse, MSW, LICSW is a licensed independent clinical social worker providing supportive counseling services for those experiencing bereavement, grief, or loss of their companion animals – whether from separation, trauma, illness, death, or euthanasia. Ms. Morse also counsels clients who are struggling with other companion animal issues such as: the cost of on-going treatment, quality of life, and whether/when to euthanize. Ms. Morse received a B.S. in Animal Sciences from the University of New Hampshire and attended the Equine Program where she received her Instructor Certification.
