Step 2: Health Screening for Your Pet
All animals who participate in the program must be healthy and free from parasites, disease, infections, and illnesses. The animal health screening is a form within the registration packet that you request your animal's regular veterinarian to complete.
To participate in the Therapy Animal Program, animals must be current on their rabies vaccination and any other vaccinations as required by state and local laws. Any other immunization decisions are up to you and your veterinarian who are the most knowledgable about your animal and its needs.
Animals with a condition that is being controlled with a prescribed medication are welcome to register and participate. However, for the health and welfare of your animal, animals receiving antibiotic, antifungal, or immunosuppressive medications, such as steroids or medications for chemotherapy, may not register with Pet Partners until that course of treatment is completed.
If your veterinarian has questions about completing the Animal Health Screening Form, please encourage them to contact firstname.lastname@example.org
. We are happy to answer questions before your packet is submitted to minimize delays in your registration.
The Animal Health Screening form is valid for 12 months from the date of the veterinarian's exam.
